Book Talk: Pre-Ordering

Hello!

Okay, so I was all set to do a Tidbit yesterday (it was Tuesday, after all), but I woke up and the Internet wasn’t working! And since we are a generation of techy people, it was a serious bummer 😂 I live out in the country, so the only things around me are fields of grass and cows. Not cell towers. Which means my phone internet is spotty and basically useless. The downside of remote locations! It did eventually get fixed and here I am. 😊 So, no harm done! I actually got a bit of reading in, too.

Since it’s no longer Tuesday, I thought I’d just turn my idea into a book talk, and discuss preordering with you!

ARC Review: Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet by Charlie N. Holmberg

Hello!

I have another review for you guys today! I was looking at the website Netgalley the other day because used to use the website a fair bit until a few months ago. At that time I’d requested and received a couple books I ended up not finishing cause I didn’t really like them. Since I didn’t finish them, I also didn’t review them. Which if you’ve ever used Netgalley, you know is a bad thing. The whole point is to receive advanced copies of books in exchange for reviews. So, I haven’t shown my face around that website in awhile. 😉 But decided to go back, because I really likd it! I thought I’d try to make myself seem like less of a schmuck by downloading a couple “read now” books (these are books you don’t need the publisher’s approval to receive. They are there for the downloading if you have an account with Netgalley) and review those, so publishers know I’m back in the game.

Anyway, long story short, the first book I chose was Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet by Charlie N. Holmberg, the same author who write the Paper Magicians trilogy. I really want to read those books too, but that’s another topic.  This book  was listed as an adult fantasy novel, which seemed interesting, and I also love the cover. The description made this book sound whimsical and magical. Sort of a fun fairytale type of story. It’s about a woman who has no memory of her past or heritage, but can bake emotions into her pastries. She can make you feel strong, loved, happy, hopefully, and lots of other things by infusing her magic into your morning muffin. Now, I’m a small-time baker, so I loved this concept from the beginning. If you’d like to read the entire book synopsis, click here for the Goodreads page.

ARC Review: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Hey guys!

I posted a few days ago about winning an ARC of It Ends With Us and how I was so excited to read it, as I’d never read a Colleen Hoover book before. Now that I’ve read it, I’m wondering if her books come in a boxset or something, because I loved this book so much. Since I received this book in a contest and not in exchange for a review, I won’t include any spoilers. Especially since this book hasn’t been released yet. 😉

If you don’t know what this book is about, here is the synopsis from Goodreads and click here to visit the Goodreads page:

Review: The Last Star by Rick Yancey

Hello, bloggers and readers!

I finished reading The Last Star two days ago. This book is the third and finally book in The 5th Wave trilogy. If you don’t know what The 5th Wave is about, here is the Goodreads page. There is also a movie adapted from the first book. I saw it and liked it pretty well. I felt the movie left out a lot of the humor and intrigue/mystery, which were two of the aspects I loved most about the book. However, I liked the casting (Hello Evan Walker, you sexy thing) and they didn’t  deviate from the storyline too excessively. But I’m getting off track, cause this wasn’t meant to be a movie review. But now it kind of is 😂 Oh well.

So, my point up there was supposed to be that I absolutely loved the first book in this trilogy, and that the second book was just okay. I’ve got to hand it to these books though, because they’ll keep you guessing about what you believe up until the last page. Since I didn’t love the second book and the plot twists it took, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this final installment. I was worried the ending would be rushed or wouldn’t offer me closure. The book also isn’t very long, which had me even more worried. However, I’ve gotta tell you guys, I loved the whole book.

Tuesday Tidbit: Summer Essentails

Good morning and happy Tuesday! It’s actually Tuesday while I’m writing this, so I’m already ahead of the game from the last two weeks 😉

I don’t have many bookish things to discuss today. I’m still organizing my thoughts and working on my review for The Last Star. I ended up being sleepy last night so I went to bed without starting It Ends With Us. And there aren’t any books releasing today that I just have to get. So, what am I even doing here, you ask? Well, I thought since I’m just hanging around snacking and the lovely sun is shinning, I would share with you guys some of my essential summer items that are not books. But may have to do with books. Okay, and some of them might be books. 😉 Basically, things you need on a hot day in the sun/on the beach/by the river/in your backyard/or even maybe indoors if you burn easily like I do. Or maybe you shy away from the light because you’re a vampire. This is a judgement-free zone.

Book Talk: My Newest ARC!

Hello!

Okay, so something really awesome happened a few weeks ago. If you follow the author Colleen Hoover on Instagram, you may have seen her post about a giveaway of sorts she was hosting in the month of May. If you were to take a picture with the cover of her new book, It Ends With Us due out August 2nd, and she liked the photo enough that she reposted it, then you would automatically win a signed advanced copy of the book! So, of course I wanted to enter because I love books, especially free ones 😉 But mostly because I’ve heard that It Ends With Us is an amazing read. I’ve seen people already getting tattoos of quotes. And sure, some people are crazy with their tattoos 😂 But still.
So, since I’m bothering to write this post, you might have guessed where this is going. I posted a picture featuring my tattoo quote from The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare, and she liked my tattoo so much, she reposted! 💙 Here is the picture I won with:

Tuesday (On Friday) Tidbit

Hey guys! I realized I’ve been a schmuck and I haven’t posted my Tidbit the last two Tuesdays. So, even though it’s Friday, I decided to post anyway, because when Friday rolls around, we can do what we want, right? 😉

So, I’ve been in a horrible reading slump. I think I delayed it a little because right after I finished reading A Court of Mist and Fury (the book responsible for my hangover and slump), I jumped right back into Shadow and Bone, which I’d been in the middle of before I started ACOMAF. So, once I finished that, I couldn’t get into Seige and Storm. I thought maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood, but I can’t really get into any book.
