Hello!
It’s Tuesday again and I thought today I’d share the books I’ve bought recently! I have been on a bit of a book buying ban the last month, because I needed to give my bank account a break 😉 However, a bookworm can only hold off for so long. And since I’ve been to a bigger city nearby twice in the last week, I was able to visit the glorious landmark known as Barnes and Noble. Did I mention twice? In one week? It sounds too good to be true. So! Look below to see the newest editions to my shelf!
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows.
I really wanted to get this book because a good friend of mine @booksalamode on Instagram, just finished this book and she raved about how funny it is! And I also love The Princess Bride, and it’s been compared to that story as well. Plus, I love the creativity here. Taking a tragic part of history and giving it a new ending? I’m hope Lady Jane Grey would be proud.
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
Okay, it’s not a secret that I adore bookoutlet.com. I’m always looking around the site and keeping things in my cart “just in case” because I can’t help myself. And I don’t feel shame about that. Last month when I was looking around I found the second and third books in the Falling Kingdoms series for like $3 each. And one is hardcover. So of course, I couldn’t not buy them, when I’ve heard such fantastic things about these books. The only problem? They never have the first book! And believe me, I’ve checked. So, when I was browsing the aisles of B&N I had to get it. To make those other purchases valid. You know? It makes total sense. 😉
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
Speaking of books I’ve heard fantastic things about? I feel like I’m basically the last person to get on this bandwagon. But honestly it was released about the same time as An Ember in the Ashes and there were so many books about ashes. I felt like a pyro. So I guess I needed a step back from the chard theme. Luckily that’s over.
The Queen of Zombie Hearts by Gena Showalter
Okay, this is the third book in The White Rabbit Chronicles series. And I’m ashamed to say I had Alice in Zombieland (the first book) on my shelf for over a year and a half. I seriously wish I’d picked it up so much sooner. The first book was good (read my review in my last post!) and the second one, which I may have finished in about one sitting yesterday (and it’s almost 500 pages!) was fantastic (review to come!). So I’m pumped to have this book in my hands. I’ve already dug in this morning and I’m not disappointed. Plus, those covers 💙
The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
Alright. This is the second book in The Winner’s trilogy. And I read The Winner’s Curse about 5 months ago? It’s a book I devoured in one sitting. I loved it so much. So, why haven’t I gotten the second book before this? I’m not sure. It seemed like there were always books I bought instead. And each time I would see it on bookoutlet.com (cause I’m basically a stalker) it’s gone before I can grab my copy. So I’m not the only stalker out there, guys. Anyway, you may or may not have seen that this series is getting a cover revamp. And which this isn’t always a bad decision because it’s reinventing publicity and excitement and blah blah. But in this case? Worst decision ever. The new covers are hideous. For reals. Luckily the original covers are available still, but in hardcover only. And don’t get me wrong. I love hardcover. But they can be so pricy! And my bank account cries. But in this case, it wasn’t even a decision 😉 Other people must feel the same. I snagged the last hardcover copy from B&N while a stack of ugly paperbacks sat waiting for someone to love them. I almost felt bad. Almost.
And there you have it! What books I’ve you bought recently?
Cheers! ☕️
