Good afternoon all! Below is a short review for the beautiful book, Everything Everything, which I was lucky enough to read before its official release on September 1st, 2015!
I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
I was very excited to read this book! After hearing raving reviews and gazing at the lovely cover, my expectations were pretty high. I’m happy to say I was not disappointed. While the contemporary genre is not my most favorite, mostly because I like a little action/mystery/paranormal in my books, I read this book in one sitting. The main character was very intriguing to me! Her narrative was amusing, filled with little notes and drawings, and full of self-discovery. I have seen some reviewers calling her selfish at times in this book. While I don’t completely agree, I can see where that is coming from. However, if I placed myself in her shoes, living in the same white house as life passes you by just outside the window, I think I would have made a lot of her decisions. You can’t live your life for someone else.
While this book does focus on a romance, I don’t think that was really the point of the story. After I finished reading, I couldn’t help feeling like I wanted to book a ticket to some exotic place and leave all my responsibilities for a weekend. Just to make memories. To enjoy a crazy adventure.
I was also expecting the ending to go a certain way. As the whole book progresses, it’s really the only way it could end. And then suddenly, everything changed. And I loved that unexpected twist.
Overall, I loved this novel! The writing was beautiful and quirky, and the characters are lovable. It was inspiring while still being light-hearted. A great debut!
