Hello!

Okay, so I finished this book a couple weeks ago, two days after it came out (because yes, I bought it the day of its release at Costco so I didn’t have to wait for shipping if I pre-ordered 😂), but I haven’t written a review. The reason for that is, I always think writing reviews for more popular books isn’t in that high of a demand, because isn’t everyone else also writing a review? But, my last review for Shadow and Bone seemed popular, and I consider that a “popular” book too. So maybe I should rethink things. Or just post a review even if there are lots of reviews, because my views are important too! 😉 Right?

So, behold the glory that is A Court of Mist and Fury.

Now, I’ll be honest. I was nervous about this release. Mostly because I thought A Court of Thorns and Roses was magical, and I didn’t want a sequel to come in and ruin it for me with that “second book blues”, as I call it. However, as Sarah J. Maas is basically the queen of young adult fantasy, I should “have a little faith” as Jace Herondale would say. Because this book was the bomb. 💣 I’m usually more for elegant words than slang terms, but I cannot deny how much of da bomb this book was. It blew my mind how only the bomb can. Was it what I expected it to be? No. Did it take the plot in the direction I thought it would? No. Did it paint the characters in the light I came accustomed to in the first book? Hell no! Did I love ever second of it? Hell yes. 💙

It also made me reevaluate some things that had happened in the first book, and realize how annoying I found them. So, somehow this book came in, showed me how badass it was, while also making me see that what I thought was badass in the first book actually wasn’t. Now that takes skill. 😂

So, this book picks up a couple months after the end of ACOTAR. Feyre is trying to deal with the trama of all she went through Under the Mountain to save Tamlim, including nightmares and a basic lack of will to live. Tamlin is being his usual self, all protective and annoying (see? I didn’t notice how annoying he was until now 😂), not communicating at all. And Feyre is suffering for it. Not eating or sleeping, and plagued by the dread that soon she’ll have to visit the Night Court and Rhysand, because as you remember, they made a deal that in exchange for saving her life, Rhys would get a week with her each month in his court. I thought this would be the plot of the book, Feyre and Tamlin working together to get her out of the bargain. Maybe Feyre would have a little confusion about liking Rhysand (hello love triangle), but would ultimately pick Tamlin. Because he’s all golden and magical, yeah? Boy, was I wrong! 😂

In the middle of being a huge ass, Tamlin makes a horrible mistake that sets this book on its course. Rhysand had to save Feyre from him. And then because he is the greatest guy ever, he teaches her to save herself. The Night Court is the most magical place. I loved reading about it, the special city hidden there, and Feyre’s journey to find a new family and a real home. New characters are introduced that I love to pieces. And the best part? There wasn’t a love triangle at all. Because there wasn’t a choice to be made. Because this new immortal Feyre with her new powers doesn’t need a protector, she needs a partner. And Rhys is the perfect person for her. 💙 I loved thier relationship, sarcasm, sexiness, and all.

So, do I think you should pick up this book? Yes! Right now! It’s the kind of book you can’t stop thinking about long after it’s closed and back on your shelf.

5+ stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The ending will tear you apart and put you back together just enough that you don’t mind waiting the next year for the third book (due May 2017!). Although you’ll wish you could Winnow into the future and read it right now 😉
